From Congo to South Africa!!

Two weeks of interesting adventures....
To keep a very long (but action packed and interesting) story short.... We had to give up on getting through the DRC, so we left Brian and Tony with the truck and we flew from Brazzaville to Point Noire, camped in the yacht club gymnasium and the Pointe Noir airport. Then from Pointe Noir to Luanda, was almost dissallowed from the flight due to Congolese incompetence, however after a short sit-in by 13 tired and cranky travellers was allowed on. Long stopover before leaving Luanda for Windhoek where we were greeted by a new truck, new driver, and the rest of the crew who had gone awol. The above could have been worse but i was doped up to the eyeballs as i had injured my back lifting a tent. What a goose!!!
Then had about 5 wonderful hours of catching up and a wee sleep before coming down with malaria symptoms. YAY!! I am sure that Windhoek is cool but i didnt really see any as i was on bed rest for three days. By the way, in Windhoek if you want to visit the emergency ward at the hospital you must have an appointment, oh, and dont get malaria on a weekend as the malaria clinic is not open! Fortunately i have the most caring people around me and they all took wonderful care of me. A mighty big thankyou to everyone, from Bri carrying my bags in Brazzaville to Chrissy sticking me in an icy cold shower, to D sharing her drugs, and of course chocolate from John, just to name a few out of all the big big thankyous i owe!!!
We then travelled generally south, along the way we saw a leopard, lion, lionesses, etc. Arrived in South Africa where we spent 3 or 4 marvelous days with D's dad. We all became accoustomed to real milk, hot water, BEDS!! Oh such bliss!!! I even found tim tams in the supermarket. We were reunited here with Tony and Brian who had ditched the truck in Brazzaville after a failed attempt to return to Pointe Noir to get the boat down south (they were stuck in the mud without fook for three days being hassled by locals and when they decided to turn around were held up by rebels in the middle of the night and robbed of an assortment of belongings - although why they took the ladies nickers noone will ever know!). It was great to have them returned to us safe and sound!!! A big piss up was had by all and a bit of a Braie. We have since travelled along the garden route and will arrive in Cape Town tomorrow.
My gut problems, malaria, cold, etc, have all cleared up so to celebrate i bungeed off the worlds largest bungee with Dave and Audrey - AWESOME!! and rode an ostrich! The scarier of the two was very easily the ostrich. They are big!! I now have three certificates to put on my wall at home - bungee, ostrich license, and for the trifecta...reaching the southern most point of Africa!!! Thanks for the last one D and Tony.
So tomorrow i will arrive in Cape Town, have replaced my rather ratty wardrobe before i reached civilisation, and hopefully will catch a super 12 game and have a night out on the town! Also will be sure to see a doctor for families sake ;-) even though i know i am fine now.
Also just to let you know that as we flew over half of Namibia and i was sick for the other half, Davey and I have decided to stay on the truck for the Namibia section and will get off in Vic Falls. That will let us see all of Namibia and parts of Botswana and then from Vic Falls we will come back down to SA and then go up the coast via Lesotho, Swaziland, and into Mozambique and onwards and upwards from there!!!
Ok, love to you all, hope you are well, hope you are enjoying the finer things in life like i am...you know...toilets, the odd bed, sewerage systems, etc, etc
xo
